Health and Safety Advice

Over the last two months we have had two positive cases at school, one pupil and one member of staff. This is less than most schools and does reflect the high number of positive cases in Redditch, even though thankfully the number of people testing positive in the country and in Redditch is falling. However, we must all stay vigilant, so I felt it would be a good idea to reiterate the key elements of Health and Safety advice.

  • HANDS – Wash your hands regularly and for at least 20 seconds.
  • FACE – Cover your face, especially where social distancing may be difficult and where you will come into contact with people you do not normally meet.
  • SPACE – Stay 2 metres apart wherever possible.

FACE MASKS: Year 7 & 8 children in school (as well as all adults) are already wearing face masks in common use areas, but I also want to point out that Year 5 & 6 children can wear face masks if they or their families wish them to do so. Additionally, all pupils are now able to wear their face masks in classrooms if they wish to do so. It is important to send your children to school with a zipped plastic bag, so that they can safely store their face mask when not in use. Remember, wash or sanitize hands before and after touching the mask.

On a slightly different note, healthy eating is more important than ever at this time, although we recognise that budgets are tight. The NHS change4life website has produced an excellent guide with loads of easy to follow, healthy recipes, that you and your children might like to make together. https://www.nhs.uk/change4life/recipes/lunch/cheap-lockdown-lunch-ideas
