The Archbishop of York, the Most Revd Stephen Cottrell has written a book called Dear England, which discusses finding hope, taking heart and changing the world. Some of the Year 5 pupils will be taking part in a project writing “Dear England” letters to the Archbishop of York. The project, which is widespread and diverse, encourages all strands of religion and non-religion; Christians, Jews, Muslims, Atheists, Agnostics. Pupils may get the chance to have their letters presented to the Archbishop and then published in RE Today!

If you could write a letter to share with your country, what would you say? What would you like to change? What would you like to celebrate? Here are some examples of the pupils’ fantastic letters!

*UPDATE*

The Editors of RE Today Magazine have confirmed that the Archbishop of York has read some of 5ROU’s letter, which he found “delightful and charming”. Watch this space for news of which letters have been chosen to be published in RE Today!
