Forest School is an inspirational learning process, that supports play, exploration and supported risk taking. It develops confidence and self-esteem through hands-on experiences in a natural setting. The process is much more than knowledge-gathering and learning new technical skills, it helps learners develop socially, emotionally, spiritually, physically and intellectually. It creates a safe, non-judgmental nurturing environment for learners to try new activities and take risks. Forest School inspires a deep and meaningful connection to the world and an understanding of how a learner fits within it.

The introduction of Forest School at BMS will enable pupils to have the opportunity to develop an inquisitive and positive relationship with the natural world. Increasing confidence, self-esteem and pupil wellbeing.

Miss Gray, one of our teaching assistants, is a Qualified Leader; she and Miss Evans have been working to prepare our designated Forest Schools area which comprises of a wooded area in the corner of the school site and a log seating area.

The logs used in the seating area were very kindly supplied by Redditch Tree Surgeons. The Forest School team would love to hear from anyone who could donate the following items to the BMS Forest School: tarpaulins (any size), rope, mallets, and tent pegs
