MEET OUR PEER MENTORS 2019 – 2020
In order to become a Peer Mentor Y8 pupils who express an interest are asked to complete an application
form, outlining their skills and attributes to fulfil the role. The successful applicants complete a two day training programme. The training involves a set of activities devised by an organisation called the Mentoring and Befriending Foundation. They provide a range of materials and offer a range of support/training to enable young people and adults to become mentors both in schools and in the work place.
Here at BMS we have been trained to deliver the training to enable our pupils to become Peer Mentors. We are very proud of our first cohort of Peer Mentors whose responsibility will be to support and advise some of their younger peers from Y5 and Y6. They meet on a weekly basis and use their personal skills and training to help their peers become more confident and successful in school.
This group of Peer Mentors are extremely enthusiastic and keen to help and support. They will be a good role model to others and we are sure the mentors and their peers will really benefit from this experience.
