Welcome

Year 8 is our final year here at Birchensale. This is the year where we help support our pupils as they transition from Key Stage 3 to their GCSEs. To help prepare our pupils, we continue to offer them a broad and balanced, as well as engaging curriculum, with an emphasis on offering a more diverse range of topics; as well as providing plenty of opportunity for stretch and challenge.

Pupils are offered opportunities to represent the school through various roles of responsibility, these include:

  • head boy and girl
  • prefects
  • peer mentors
  • house captains
  • plus many more!

Throughout the year we also offer pupils in Year 8 the chance to take part in a residential trip to the Malvern Hills and cultural visits to the cities of Birmingham and Worcester. As well as this, we aim to expose our Year 8 pupils to a range of different careers. Allowing them the chance to meet people from a range of different industries, take part in skills and career fairs and gather ideas towards their future ambitions.

Finally, throughout Year 8, we encourage our pupils to grow in independence, as they take their next steps into young adulthood.
