‘Birchensale Middle School lies at the heart of the community. Our caring family values ensure the best possible environment for every pupil to realise their full potential’

We facilitate introspective participation regarding our values and actions, both individually and collectively, to maintain the sustainability of our planet.

Through varied activities, inside and outside the classroom, we inspire and stimulate children’s curiosity and fascination about local, national and global communities to improve cultural capital. This supports them in making sense of a dynamically complex changing world by gaining knowledge of diverse places, people and resources.  We deepen our pupil’s understanding of the earth’s key physical and human environments, interactional processes and the formation and use of landscapes. We challenge our pupils through high-order questioning and enquiry-based learning. They develop geographical skills such as: map reading; field work; collection, analysis and communication of data and interpretation of a range of geographical sources. Within the digital age, we develop the geographers of the future through the use of technological programmes such as digital mapping to equip them for an ever-changing world.

Our curriculum encourages the development of critical thinking, which embeds skills for the future, promoting a lifelong love of geography and equipping them to successfully navigate their world.
