Following a pause on Extra Curricular Clubs at the beginning of the Autumn Term 2020, we will now be reintroducing some clubs.
All of our clubs will be year group based only, starting at 3.30p.m. and finishing no later than 4.30p.m. All clubs will be run with appropriate COVID safety measures in place to ensure staff and pupils are safe.
In addition to the curriculum offered through the academic timetable, we like to offer to the pupils many other opportunities. These activities serve to enrich the education at Birchensale. No child is compelled to take part in extra curricular activities, but all are encouraged and welcomed.
The wealth of activities offered outside of the classroom include a wide choice for the pupils. The staff of the Physical Education department go to great lengths to ensure that Birchensale is fairly represented in competitive events with other Middle Schools. These matches include Athletics, Football, Hockey, Cricket, Netball, Rugby and Rounders. Birchensale has an enviable record of sporting achievements and received the coveted Sportsmark Gold Award in May 2000, which was re-awarded in 2007 and again in 2009 and more recently we have been awarded the School Games – Gold Award. If you have time you may like to look at the Sports/P.E. pages on this website.
Other after-school clubs available include;
Music; Computer; Chess; Choir and Orchestra; Art; Library; Language; Drama; Table Tennis; Mah Jong; Bridge; Draughts; Cookery; Textiles; Science; Running; Table Tennis; Basketball; Cheerleading and Media Studies.
We are very proud of the sports teams and individuals we have nurtured at Birchensale who have gone out to participate in events and tournaments, achieving success at District level and beyond –
